I was reading up on new cars that are coming out that have sensors that detect other cars on the road... I am all for technology, but I would rather have total control over a vehicle rather than relinquish it to a robot....

This is not anything new. Driverless cars occur daily when drivers do everything but pay attention to driving.

Can't wait for hackers to see what they could do with this. Who needs to cut brake lines? All you need to do is program it to drive into a wall.

Concept may be old but this means its legal now!!! Who's at fault in an accident...& you know it will happen. Will it automatically blame the other driver for human error as the machine/software is infallible.

This is not a new idea. The concept has been around for decades. Move along, nothing to see here!

Might be less accidents and a little less "heavy foot" for better MPG. Could be requirement for those that have tickets for DUI's in their past.

Interesting. I could use one at the end of the 15 hour work days I put in most days. I might even have time for a life away from the job and farm if I sleep while driving to and from work.

I thought we already had this. Just take a drive and you will see plenty of cars on the roads with no apparent driver.

Most cars are already driverless.. the "drivers" are so preoccupied with texting, cell calls, music, chatting with the person in the back seat, applying makeup, shaving, eating, drinking.... this will have to be an improvement

If you have road rage one day does that mean you take it out on the car?? Your not the one driving. I guess it will have an internal GPS that you just talk to & it takes you to where your going, fill your gas tank, & puts on you seat belt. Will it also pay for the gas that it pumps??

From the article: "And Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval was given a personal demonstration of what the new law might cover when he was chauffeured in an autonomous Toyota Prius that used radar and other sensors to help guide it to its destination"
Wasn't the Toyota Prius the car that malfunctioned and wouldn't stop?
“Take me to the Capitol building, Hal.” “I’m sorry, Dave. I can’t do that.”

LOVE IT, IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT THE OWNER/OCCUPANT/RIDER WILL JUST SAY "MY CAR WAS DRIVING AT THE TIME OFFICER SO YOU CAN'T SITE ME FOR FAULT".

We have driver-less trains near my home, and the warning signs at the railroad crossings to prove it. Why not driver-less cars to compete with driver-less trains? I think I will stay home.

So the company that made the vehicle would have full liability for any accident instead of the driver. The size of the lawsuits will really increase.

Glad to see that someone is looking forward to new car tech --- even if its Nevada. Autonomous long-haul mass transit (e.g., buses) might be great for some parts of the country.
