I always use only my right foot to accelerate and brake.

I have heard there are some left-foot brakers though. One time a girl in front of me was going up a big hill. She was accelerating, yet her brake light was on. Now I know why: she slightly and unknowingly touched the brake with her left foot as she accelerated with her right. Very irritating. I kept on wondering why she was braking up a hill until I realized she was accelerating.

Are there any advantages or disadvantages to left-foot braking?

Also what foot do drivers from countries which drive on the left side of the road brake with?

My Left mainly, because it is as smart as my right which already has something to do,my left then doesn't get lazy while driving. Kinda like the Eye thingee.

Right, and even if your car is a right hand drive the pedals are still the same and you accelerate with the right foot.

I use left foot for brake if I am trying to get the car moving in a poor traction situation where the vehicle needs to be rocked a bit, but never in actual driving.

Hi mileena202. I was going over this Topic and realized something that hasn't been address regarding those that "ride" the brake pedal with their left foot. You actually mentioned it in your Topic when you said "her brake light was on." If you engage the brake light you will disengage the cruise control or cause it not to engage. This is a safety feature and has been for over two decades.

Another issue is more relevant to vehicle in the past 20 years or so, that being a condition for a vehicle to shift to overdrive is NOT having the brakes on. It does make sense when you think about it, why would the computer controlled transmission be allowed to go into overdrive when, at the same time, the computer is being "told" that the vehicle is slowing down (e.g. braking)? Take care :-) .

Both, but mostly the left, for 55 years of driving, except when owning a few std.shifts. Get 50-60,ooo miles on the brake linings, the brake pedel isn't a foot rest, maybe for some, distance between vehicles is the answer, except when stopped, saves fuel also, prevents frontend damage, that's handy also.
